Marvel 1943 Rise of Hydra trailer still

Marvel lifts the lid on 1943: Rise of Hydra, the action-adventure helmed by Amy Hennig

We’ve got a new Marvel game on the horizon. Marvel 1943: Rise of Hydra has had its first “proper” trailer today, giving us a taste of what we can expect when this story-driven action-adventure game lands sometime in 2025.

It’s being developed by Skydance New Media, which is helmed by Amy Hennig — the director and writer behind Uncharted 1-3. It’s safe to say that Marvel 1943: Rise of Hydra is in very good hands then, narratively speaking, and we’re looking forward to finding out more.

As its title suggests, 1943: Rise of Hydra is set during World War II, offering up a brand new story that centres on Captain America and Black Panther. The trailer focuses on cinematic scenes, so we don’t get much of a taste of gameplay, but we do at least see some of the game’s cast, featuring many well-known faces.

Watch the trailer below:

The cast includes:

  • Drew Moerlein as Captain America (Nandor Fodor and the Talking Mongoose)
  • Khary Payton as Black Panther (The Walking Dead)
  • Megalyn Echikunwoke as Nanali (24, Night School)
  • Marque Richardson as Gabriel Jones (Dear White People)
  • Lyne Renée as Julie (Split, Gossip Girl)
  • Joel Johnstone as Howard Stark (The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel)

The soundtrack of the trailer is also noteworthy, featuring original music from Stephen Barton — who’ll also be providing an original score for the full game. He’s worked on numerous movies, TV series and games including Star Wars Jedi: Survivor, Titanfall and 12 Monkeys.
