Alone in the Dark

Alone in the Dark update adds New Game+ and photo mode

While it didn’t set our world on fire, we quite enjoyed Alone in the Dark when we reviewed it earlier this year. It’s now somewhat better than when we originally played it, too, thanks to a meaty update that has added some valuable new features and fixed some troublesome bugs.

Jump into Alone in the Dark with the latest update installed, and you’ll now find it has a photo mode for one. That means you can take some moody shots or capture those moments that take your breath away — it is quite a nice looking game, after all. But even better, a New Game+ mode has also been added.

As ever, you’re able to access New Game+ after you’ve completed the game once. But what’s really neat is that as well as granting you access to all weapons right from the start, the balance of the game is completely overhauled, with more enemies to be encountered that are tougher overall.

On top of that there’s a new, alternative intro, as well as new events and scares to be found.

Needless to say, New Game+ should make a second playthrough of Alone in the Dark all the more enticing. And if you haven’t played the game yet, a whole host of bug fixes, quality of life improvements and gameplay tweaks should make your first playthrough a hell of a lot more enjoyable, too.
