Streets of Rage 4

June’s PS Plus games include SpongeBob and Streets of Rage 4

It’s an eclectic selection coming to PlayStation Plus this June — but a rather good one. Providing you don’t own any of these games, at least. You’re getting Streets of Rage 4, SpongeBob Squarepants: The Cosmic Shake and AEW Fight Forever. At least one of those games belongs on our Greatest of all Time list… bet you can’t guess which one.

Indeed, in our Streets of Rage 4 review, we called it a “celebration of the series so far”, going on to describe the game as a “tour de force of sumptuous art, mesmerising music and trance-inducing action”. If you’re a fan of side-scrolling beat ’em ups, this really is the best out there.

SpongeBob SquarePants: The Cosmic Shake is pretty fun too, actually. Released last year, we called this a “good old-fashioned 3D platformer”, with “colourful worlds and silly humour” that’ll appeal to both adults and kids alike. You don’t even have to be a fan of the yellow, porous sponge to enjoy this one.

Last, and perhaps least, on the roster is AEW: Fight Forever, which only scored a 5/10 when we reviewed it last year. It has, allegedly, been improved a bunch since then at least, and if you’re a fan of wrestling you might find something to like here — but it generally falls short of 2K’s annual WWE output.

The three new games for PS Plus June will be available from 4th June. That means you’ve still got a few days to download May’s offerings, which include Ghostrunner II, Tunic and Destiny 2: Lightfall. You can also download EA Sports FC 24 until 18th June.
