Ten tips for getting started in Undead Inc.

Undead Inc., a laboratory with a gorilla-style animal in a machine.

Have you just picked up Undead Inc and want some tips for getting started? We’ve got you covered.

Undead Inc. puts you in charge of a branch of an Umbrella Corporation-style bioweapons company, meaning you’ll have to deal with viruses, zombies and so on. So to give you a hand, we’ve got some tips to get you started in Undead Inc.

1. Choose your Director carefully

Each have their own pros and cons, but I’d recommend you go with Hitch. Because when Hitch is sitting in her director’s chair, she will slowly heal both herself and all your employees.

2. Use your Director in other roles

Provided you’ve not got employees that need healing, your Director can take on other roles. You can use them to explore the underground but if they die it’s game over. An alternative use is to assign them to a room such as a Doctor’s Office. They can do virtually any role, maintenance aside.

3. Build two Doctor’s Offices and two Waiting Rooms right away

It’s tempting to start building all sorts of rooms, but start with two, maybe three ,Doctor’s Offices and Waiting Rooms. That’ll give you a regular, steady income.

4. Only blast underground if you have to

There’s often a second level beneath the underground, which you’ll have to blast (using Maintenance Workers) to access. But, as cool as underground lairs are, this will get you an awful lot of attention. If possible, clear Blindspot gang members out of the 2×2 rooms first.

5. Check what your employees know

If you click into an employee’s profile, you’ll have a box that says ‘Illegal Knowledge’. This lists everything they’ve seen and/or done that’s illegal. Ideally you want to minimise this, particularly if they’re got a good corporate fit. And if you’re not comfortable, and can eat the loss of a skilled staff member, recycle them as Biomass.

6. Check employees for symptoms

In that same employee screen above, you can check for any symptoms that might indicate they’re about to turn zombie. If you find any, it’s a good idea to treat them in the Staff Treatment Centre or recycle them for biomass.

7. Harvest Biomass regularly

When you go underground, you’ll see piles of Biomass. Send your Researchers down to collect it regularly. Even if you’re not building anything that needs it, you can sell Biomass on the black market.

8. If someone asks for a raise, always agree

That might sound like bad advice but build a Staff Treatment Centre and you can harvest them for Biomass after you’ve agreed to giving them a raise. If you decline, you just lose an employee. If you say yes, and decide they’re not worth it, you get around 6 Biomass from harvesting them.

9. Arm your employees by building an Equipment Research and Equipment Production facility

You’ll encounter Blindspot gang members underground, more on some levels than others. Build these facilities and research the SMG and heavy armour, then arm your employees. You’ll also be able to sell these on the black market.

10. Agree to the first Blindspot protection money demand

Blindspot will approach you, asking for $10,000 in protection money. Say yes because when you’ve just started out you won’t have enough security, or enough well-armed security, to fight them off.

Those are our ten tips for getting started with Undead Inc. We’re aware that many of them involve turning employees into Biomass, but no-one said business was easy.
