We have some Beyond Good & Evil news! Sadly, it’s not related to the long-awaited Beyond Good & Evil 2. But we do have a good reason to jump back into the classic original: it’s being re-released on PC and consoles with a bit of a refresh. And it’s coming very soon. 25th June, in fact.

We wouldn’t call Beyond Good & Evil – 20th Anniversary Edition a remaster as such, however. There are certainly improvements here: it’ll now run at up to 4k resolution, and at a frame rate of up to 60fps. Numerous quality-of-life changes have been implemented, too. It now has autosave, for example, the ability to skip cutscenes, and full controller, keyboard and mouse support. There’s also cross-save across all platforms.

While it still shows its age — you can watch the trailer below to see how it stands up — this 20th Anniversary Edition is undoubtedly going to be the best way to play Beyond Good & Evil, then. It’s even got some updated audio tracks, re-recorded by a live orchestra under the supervision of Christophe Héral. That alone is something to look forward to

There’s also a new Speedrun Mode designed to challenge seasoned players to beat the game in record time. Finally, there are new trophies/achievements, as well as an Anniversary Gallery where you can find information on the game’s development, filled with artwork, videos and more.

Something we’re particularly intrigued about, though, is a new mission that supposedly has a narrative link to Beyond Good & Evil 2. This new quest will see protagonist Jade exploring her past and collecting exclusive cosmetic rewards

If all that sounds good, Beyond Good & Evil – 20th Anniversary Edition will be available on 25th June. It’s coming to PS4, PS5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X/S, Switch and PC. Physical editions, including an exclusive collector’s edition, will also be coming soon, with pre-orders opening via Limited Run Games on 12th July.
