Fable has been given a 2025 release date, and it’s looking rather spectacular

It’s been a long time coming, but we’ve finally had eyes on a new trailer for Fable. With a release date slated for some point in 2025, it’s looking rather splendid. It may still be a way off, but we’re finally getting excited for Playground Games’ take on the long-running franchise.

We say that, but it’s been so long since we last played a Fable game that it long predates the existence of GameSpew. Fable 3 was two whole generations ago, launching on Xbox 360 all the way back in 2010. It’ll have been fifteen years by the time the new iteration releases. Long, long overdue, in our opinion.

The new Fable trailer, which is just over two and a half minutes long, introduces us to a character called Humphry, allegedly Albion’s greatest (retired) hero. It perfectly sets the comedic tone for the game while also giving us a glimpse of a female hero going about her business.

We’re told the trailer is in-game footage — in which case it’s going to look rather spectacular indeed. Albion looks more stunning than ever, and we can’t wait to run around it, getting up to who-knows-what and setting our fate by choosing to be good or evil. If that’s something you can still do in Fable. We hope that’s something you can still do in Fable.

As always, we remain hopeful for this new take on the franchise. It’s had a rocky development, but Playground Games — known for the Forza Horizon series — has plenty of experience in open world game design, even if this is quite the departure from a racing game. We’ll be waiting with bated breath for more details on this medieval adventure, hopefully to come in the next few months.
