In case you missed the news during Summer Game Fest, Amazon Games’ open world MMO New World is making its way to consoles later this year. New World: Aeternum will launch on PS5 and Xbox Series X/S on 15th October, and will include the base game, the Rise of the Angry Earth expansion, and all other updates and content released since launch as well as numerous improvements such as a revamped storytelling approach.

The good news is that those eager to give New World: Aeternum a try on PS5 or Xbox Series X/S are in with a chance to do so thanks to a confidential console closed beta taking place this July. All players have to do is sign up with their Amazon account over on the New World website. As ever, signing up doesn’t guarantee a spot in the closed beta, but at least it gives you a chance.

With the confidential console closed beta for New World: Aeternum running between 11th and 17th July, those who are successful will be notified beforehand and will be able to download the client from the 9th, allowing them to hit the ground running when the servers open.

It appears that a great deal of the game’s content will be available during the beta period, but some features such as the in-game store will be disabled. When the beta is over, all progress will be lost: unfortunately none of it will be carried over to the full game.

You can read more about the confidential console closed beta over on the New World website. You can also watch the announcement trailer for the game below.

Just remember that if you do get into the beta, it’s confidential, so you can’t create any content using footage you’ve recorded or go around telling anyone about it. You don’t want Amazon after you, do you?
