Starship Troopers: Extermination

Starship Troopers: Extermination hits consoles this October

Already available on PC thanks to early access, Starship Troopers: Extermination offers intense team-based multiplayer action against huge swarms of alien enemies, along with a healthy dose of humour. The good news is that later this year console gamers will be able to get in the act, too, with the game fully launching in October on PS5 and Xbox Series X/S. And yes, crossplay will be supported.

In Starship Troopers: Extermination players take up arms as one of six unique classes, then work with others in co-op to complete a range of objectives before constructing and defending a base against hordes of giant bug-like enemies. With multiple planets on which to engage in warfare, there’s plenty of variety to be found, and the frenzied action is fun, win or lose.

What really makes Starship Troopers: Extermination stand out is that the corpses of the bugs you slay remain on the battlefield, not only adding a sense of authenticity, but also reinforcing the chaos. Console gamers who love co-op action action, then, should certainly keep this shooter on their radar, especially if they’re fans of the films.

On the subject of the films, it’s also been announced that Starship Troopers: Extermination will feature a 25-mission single-player campaign mode when it fully launches, with Caspar Van Dien, who played Rico in the first and third Starship Troopers movies, returning to assume the role of your general. If that doesn’t make fans of the films keen to jump into the game, we don’t know what will.
