Lollipop Chainsaw RePOP developer Dragami games has released 19 minutes of new gameplay footage, with assistance from streamer and cosplayer PeachMilky.

The original Lollipop Chainsaw was released in 2012, landing on Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3. And, until now, the only way to play this cheerleader-vs-zombies slash-em-up, was to pay silly money on eBay. But Dragami games is bringing it back as Lollipop Chainsaw RePOP and it’s out in just over a month.

This new iteration, coming to PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, Nintendo Switch and PC, isn’t only prettier. It also boasts a handful of gameplay tweaks, including the ability to speed up your slashes. Streamer and cosplayer PeachMilky got to slash her way through the game’s prologue, and it looks pretty awesome in action.

The video, which you can watch below, features plenty of zombie slaughter and also offers a glimpse of the game’s outfits including Ninja, Sailor, Kimono Dress and Samurai. Surprisingly, there are no pre-order bonus outfits, so all of these can be unlocked in-game.

It also shows off some of the achievements, including the creepy “I Swear I Did It By Mistake” skirt-peeking achievement. If you got a kick out of the original’s slightly suspect humour, you’ll be happy to hear it appears to have been left intact. It’s a marked contrast to the Dead Rising remake, which dropped its ‘Erotica’ photo bonus. But Dragami has made it clear that, despite any initial plans, this is a remaster and not a remake.

PeachMilky has been chosen as “The official ambassador of Lollipop Chainsaw RePOP”. She describes herself as “.. a massive fan of Lollipop Chainsaw ever since the original” and has previously cosplayed as protagonist Juliet Starling. She doesn’t specify if this is a paid partnership, and it’s on Dragami’s YouTube, so it’s best to view this as an extended trailer.

Lollipop Chainsaw RePOP arrives digitally on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, Nintendo Switch and PC this September 12th. Limited Run is also releasing physical editions further down the line.
