If third-party game launchers are the bane of your life, you’ll be very glad to hear that there’s now one less of them to worry about. As of yesterday, 25th November, the 2K Launcher has been fully removed from every game that used in on Steam and Epic.

Popular games that previously used the 2K Launcher include Bioshock, XCOM 2, Civilization VI and Mafia Trilogy Definitive Edition, though of course, there were many, many more. Much of the work removing the launcher was actually completed on 18th November, but as of 25th November a further update has been sent to Steam to fully remove the 2K Launcher. You might just need to restart Steam to make sure it’s gone for good if you’re one of those people who never turn their PC off.

The removal of the 2K Launcher means that most games can now be easily launched from within Steam or Epic without any additional steps. When it comes to the Mafia Trilogy Definitive Edition, however, you’ll get the choice whether to simply launch the game or open the launcher which has always been there. But the good news is that you can easily disable the launcher option.

To find out more about how the removal of the 2K Launcher affects various games, you can check out the 2K website. In any case, we’re sure you’ll agree that one less launcher to deal with is good news.
