More great games on PS Plus Extra
1. Alienation

Twin-stick isometric shooter Alienation is an absolute blast, but to be truly enjoyed it needs to be played in co-op. Up to four players can work together to combat alien hordes while displaying their slick reloading skills and picking up sweet loot. You’ll be glad for the company too, as Alienation can get very challenging in its later stages.
Definitely one of the best couch co-op games on PS Plus Extra, with its beautiful visuals and addictive gameplay, playing Alienation with friends or family is an experience that you don’t want to miss out on. It may be a little long in the tooth, but don’t let that put you off: it’s every bit as exhilarating as it was when it first released.
2. LEGO City Undercover

If there’s one thing you can be sure of when booting up any LEGO game, it’s that it’s going to be better when played in co-op. And it couldn’t be more true for LEGO City Undercover, one of our favourite LEGO games ever released. It’s been called ‘LEGO Grand Theft Auto’ — but of course with less swearing, blood and murder. It’s one of only a few original IPs from LEGO, but it packs in an excellent story about cop Chase McCain and has a huge array of activities for players to engage with.
Truth be told, it’s one of many LEGO games available on PS Plus Extra, and whichever one you choose, you’re guaranteed to have a great time in co-op. We can also heartily recommend LEGO DC Supervillains and LEGO Batman 3, but there are more than a dozen to choose from as part of your subscription.

3. Overcooked! All You Can Eat

If you like frenetic and fast-paced co-op fun, then games don’t come much better than Overcooked. This party game has you and up to three friends working together to serve dishes. But this is no normal kitchen you’re working in: whether you’re on the top of a volcano or in the back of a moving van, you’re essentially set up to fail. You’ll need to work together to overcome obstacles, so get ready to put your teamwork hat on.
Overcooked! All You Can Eat contains both Overcooked! and Overcooked! 2, so there’s an absolute tonne of content here, all of which can be played with friends. Bright, colourful, and so much fun, if you like couch co-op games are subscribe to PS Plus Extra, you simply must play Overcooked!.

4. Warhammer: Chaosbane

If you and your couch co-op buddies enjoy hacking, slashing, shooting and looting, then Warhammer: Chaosbane is undoubtedly the game for you. While the standard PS4 version is also available on PS Plus Extra, if you’ve got a PS5 we’d recommend playing the souped-up Slayer Edition: not only does it boast better visuals and a 4K resolution, it also bundles in all DLC and additional content. It’s the ultimate version of the game, basically.
In Warhammer: Chaosbane, you’ll play as one of several character classes, each with their own abilities and skills. The Slayer, for example, dual-wields two axes for up-close-and-personal damage. And the Witch Hunter can switch between melee weapons and guns for truly varied combat. Whichever character you choose though, you’ll have a lot of fun making your way through various environments, killing hordes of enemies as you go. And of course, finding plenty of loot. Up to four players can play together, making this one of the best couch co-op games on PS Plus Extra.

5. Resogun

Resogun offers classic side-scrolling shooter action with a bit of micro-management thrown in for good measure. And playable in local co-op, the experience is transformed into something even better.
With two players sharing the same screen, you have to co-ordinate with each other if you want to survive, and even more so if you want to save all the humans. Regardless, this is an absolute blast to play, and you’ll waste hours trying to chase those high scores whilst saving your little green friends. If you’re after the best couch co-op games on PS Plus Extra, seriously consider playing Resogun.
6. Tetris Effect Connected

Tetris? As a couch co-op game? Oh yes! The classic block-falling puzzle game has undergone quite the transformation in Tetris Effect Connected. This is perhaps the best Tetris game we’ve had to date, and thanks to its multiplayer and co-op modes, it’s also one of the best couch co-op games on PS Plus Extra.
You can go head to head if you prefer, but Tetris Effect’s Connected mode tasks you and up to two others to work together in clearing a giant board. It’s a great spin on the classic game, and one of our favourite things to play with friends.

7. The Dark Pictures Anthology: The Devil In Me

If you and your friends like a bit of horror, we can’t hesitate to recommend The Devil in Me. One of four games in the Dark Pictures Anthology (they’re all available on PS Plus Extra!), this one is perhaps our favourite. It has a fantastic story, but it’s also filled with genuine scares, and it kept us on the edge of our seat from start to finish.
If you’re unfamiliar with The Dark Pictures Anthology, these narrative-driven thrillers can be played either alone or by a group of players. The Devil in Me features multiple protagonists, and each player will take control of one or a few of them. You’re totally in control of their destiny, and your decisions and actions will determine if they live or die. And with this particular story putting you in a recreation of a home of a serial killer, you can guarantee there are going to be plenty of dangerous opportunities…

8. Trine 4: The Nightmare Prince

A knight, a rogue and a wizard set out on a journey – no, it’s not the start of a dad joke; it’s the basis of Trine, a series of platform-puzzle games. The latest, Trine 4, is undoubtedly the best of the bunch, and while it can be played in single player, it’s a game that’s been built with co-op play in mind.
Trine 4 has you travelling through gorgeous 2.5D environments, solving puzzles to progress. You’ll be moving boxes, shooting targets, swinging across gaps and manipulating the environment in numerous ways in order to solve whatever puzzle is at hand. Playing in couch co-op, you’ll need to use your heads to work together to solve puzzles. Every player is equally important, and working together as a team rarely feels as rewarding as it does here.
9. Rayman Legends

Arguably the best platform game currently available, Rayman Legends is a delight whether you play it in single player or co-op. We particularly love its musical levels, but level design in general is top notch. And even better, Rayman Legends allows additional players to drop in at any time. And the more players there are, the more fun the game is.
The classic 2D side-scrolling action of Rayman Legends is perfect for any age – but tougher levels will keep even the most ardent of gamers on their toes. With gorgeous graphics, exhilarating music levels and all-round good fun, you can’t get much better than Rayman Legends for a great couch co-op session. If you’ve got a PS Plus Extra subscription, you really should add it to your library — it may be a little long in the tooth now, but it’s just as delightful as it ever was.
10. Human: Fall Flat

A 3D puzzle game that’s all about trying to stay alive, Human: Fall Flat is packed with advanced physics that make it absolutely hilarious to play. It can be played alone, but the real fun comes when playing in couch co-op with a friend or partner by your side. It’s all about interacting with everything in your environment and seeing what’ll happen. Perhaps you’ll fall to your death. Perhaps you won’t. There’s only one way to find out!
Experimentation is key in Human Fall Flat, and that’s perhaps what makes this so much fun. Normally, succumbing to your death in a video game is a frustrating experience, but here, it’s part and parcel of succeeding. Playing in co-op, you can test out your mad-cap ideas, coming up with solutions to each level, and throwing your characters around in the most bizarre ways. It’s a great deal of fun, and one of the best couch co-op games currently available on PS Plus Extra.

11. Infinite Minigolf

Everyone loves mini golf (or crazy golf, depending where you life), right? Infinite Minigolf is a lovely package filled with over the top golf courses including a Halloween-themed one and, our favourite, a giant bedroom that shrinks you down to the size of a bug. You can even build your own courses, and play courses designed by other people. The name “Infinite” isn’t exactly ironic, then.
Like all the games on this list, playing with a friend makes the antics of Infinite Minigolf more fun than ever. You’ll simply take it in turns to play, seeing you can complete a course the fasted. Jumping into a game with a friend in local co-op is dead easy, or you can even create courses for each other for the ultimate personalised challenge.

12. Enter the Gungeon

A word that combines both ‘dungeon’ and ‘gunge’ has to be great right? Enter Enter the Gungeon. It’s every bit as good as you’d expect, and is a couch co-op game well worth jumping into if you have a PS Plus Extra subscription.
It’s a dungeon crawler-meets-bullet hell game designed to be fiendish. Imagine bullets flying in every which way while you dodge around obstacles and try to take down enemies before their bullets reach you. It’s crazy, but it’s great fun. Add a local co-op player into the mix, and you’ve got twice the amount of bullets, and twice the amount of mayhem. Expect a lot of shouting to ensue, but by god, we love it.

13. Terraria

Something of a more retro-styled Minecraft, Terraria is all about building your own world, exploring it and defeating monsters in it. It’s a completely open sandbox, where you’re free to go wherever you want and do whatever you please. It can be a little daunting at first, just like any sandbox, but when played in local co-op with a buddy, there’s a whole world of possibilities that await the pair of you.
It’s truly addictive too; Terraria-time flies by like nothing else. “Let’s just go over here,” you’ll say. Or, “I’m just going to kill one more monster,” or “I’m just going to dig one more hole.” Before you know it, 10 hours have passed, you’ve skipped two meals, and the cat has left home from abandonment issues.
14. Cat Quest II

If you’ve played the original Cat Quest, you’ll have an idea of what to expect here: Cat Quest II isn’t all that different from its predecessor. It’s still a simple action RPG with colourful visuals and cuteness levels that are off the chart. What it does have that the original game doesn’t, however, is couch co-op gameplay.
It may be called Cat Quest II, but that doesn’t stop canines from getting in on the act. With a party consisting of both a dog and a cat, in couch co-op a player can take control of each, using their skills to back up their buddy. It’s the best way to play the game. This is a very simple RPG that can be enjoyed by just about any age, and if you have PS Plus Extra it’s a co-op adventure well worth jumping into.
