Psychopathy Assessment lets you become a truly deranged madman
Are you a psycho? Beginning Psychopathy Assessment, you might start to think that you’re soon going to find out. After completing what appears to be a psychopathy test, test, however, you soon realise that it’s all been a ruse. This isn’t actually a test to check if you’re a psychopath; it’s your introduction to the harrowing scenario that’s soon going to play out.
Before I go any further, let’s get one thing clear: Psychopathy Assessment is a very disturbing game that’s not for the squeamish and/or faint of heart. After being forced to listen to a police recording concerning a missing woman at the beginning of the game, players are then thrust into control of what appears to be a rather unhinged man. A trip to the toilet and a phone call later, and things become clear: the missing woman is his partner, who he believed was having an affair.
Things go from bad to worse when you come to the realisation that he has her captive in the house somewhere and is planning on “teaching her a lesson”. What follows will really make you question your morality. Though, perhaps thankfully, the PlayStation One-quality visuals and censorship here mean that things never get too graphic.
A short and unchallenging experience, you’ll be done with Psychopathy Assessment in little over 30 minutes, and there’s not much reason to return to it. It is cheap, though, and while its story is grim, it is engaging throughout and has a surprise twist ending. If you like things dark and uncompromising, you might want to give it a go — but don’t be surprised if it makes you feel a little grubby after playing it.
