Our guide below will take you right through The Cursed Treasure Pirate Ship level in Escape Simulator 2 and includes solutions for every single puzzle, as well as screenshots of the solutions. So read on, and join us on a journey through treacherous waters!
Unlock the lire chest
As with this game’s other rooms, you don’t have to tackle every puzzle in a specific order, but for the sake of convenience, we suggest you follow this order. Your first job is to unlock the chest marked LIRE.

The note above the chest is your clue and, when decoded, will give you the combination 6123. Unlock and open the chest and take the cannonballs.
Unlock the waves chest
To unlock the waves chest, you need to look at the chest and the ropes nearby. Turn the wheel till the marks align with the first three symbols on the first line of the chest. That’ll give you the rest of the symbols, as shown below.

So, the combination for the chest is as below:

Open it and take the key.
Unlock the sunken rune chest
There’s another chest, out of view. Here’s how to get and open it.
- Insert the key into the keyhole on the mast and turn the wheel clockwise till the hook drops out of view.
- Now, turn the wheel anticlockwise to raise the chest.
- Grab it and put it down somewhere.
- Touch the handles to reveal the letters from left to right are ERNU.

- When the handles go back down, touch them in the right order to spell RUNE. That’s handle 2, handle 4, handle 3, handle 1.
- Take the runes inside.
Fire the first cannon
Go to the wall puzzle and move the cross until you find a position where the glowing shapes match the shapes beneath. Here’s the solution, but you won’t immediately get a reward.

Instead, you’ll use this information to solve the cannon puzzle. Rotate the pieces of the cannon and, by placing the runes on it, create the pattern as shown above. Here’s what the cannon should look like from left and right.

Finally, put a cannonball in the now-open end. It’ll fire at the Kraken which will switch sides, granting you access to another chest.
Open the under-stairs chest
There are four symbols; bomb, hook, crossbones and hourglass. Beneath each is a choice of line. Look at the flags around the ship to determine which line pattern matches which symbol.
Here’s the solution:

Take the runes from inside and grab the nearby steel rings and round key.
Collect the weapons
To proceed you’ll need eight weapons. You’ll find them in these locations:
- Two on the floor by the remaining Kraken arm
- One by the bottom of the left stairs
- Two in the barrel
- Two in a box near the door to the captain’s cabin
- One in a crate by the left tentacle (also grab the rune from this box)
Solve the barrel problem
In a possible nod to Tomy’s Pop-Up Pirate, you now have to insert the weapons into the barrel, the one on top of a golden circle. The barrel has three levels and you can only fit one long weapon in each level. Here’s how to solve it:
- Insert a long weapon into the top, medium and bottom levels. If it doesn’t fit all the way in, try a different slot.
- Insert a medium weapon into the horizontal hole in the middle level.
- Insert a short weapon into the bottom level
- Insert a medium weapon into the remaining horizontal medium hole
- Insert a medium weapon into the remaining top level hole
- Insert the remaining two short weapons into the medium level holes
Now, reach inside and take the rune.
Fire the second cannon
Insert the key into the second cannon to unlock it. Use the new set of steel rings on the wall to reveal another pattern, making sure the left-hand ring matches the end of the cannon, the group of four shells pattern.
This time you get:

Then, rotate and place the runes as before. If you’re stuck, here’s the exact solution, from the right of the cannon (you don’t put anything on the left).

Load a cannonball, which will fire the cannon and grant you access to the captain’s cabin.
Unlock the sword-fighting box
Read the notes on self-defence, found the near the box, for your clue, and take the key at the same time. To actually open the box you need to rotate it and set up these fighting postures on each side.
- Side 1: Left fighter – slider all the way to the right, right fighter – slider all the way to the left
- Side 2: Left fighter – slider all the way to the right, right fighter – slider all the way to the right
- Side 3: Left fighter – slider all the way to the left, right fighter – slider all the way to the right
- Side 4: Left fighter – slider all the way to the left, right fighter – slider in the middle
Now, take the key and, while you’re at it, take the key from the small box on the floor and the dresser drawer.
Unlock the closet

The next step is to unlock the large closet, using the era-appropriate keypad. The lanterns outside, and the note you find in the bottom right hand desk drawer, are your clue to the code. So press these buttons in order:
XF, SV, AY
Now, open the closet and take the key.
Unlock the map and defeat the Kraken
With the five keys, you can now unlock the map and retrieve the runic fireball. Look at the globe to find where to put the keys, the catch being that the map is flat, so it can be a bit tricky. Want the solution? Here’s exactly where to put each of the five keys.

Now, go outside, load the cannonball into the cannon and you’ll have defeated the Kraken. Now, you can finally set sail.
Sailing away
You’ve now got access to the upper deck. Read the map carefully for the clues and use the steering wheel to set sail. Here’s how to finally leave these cursed waters.
- Raise the sails with the lever.
- Steer the wheel towards the three lights till it starts to rain.
- Steer north, using the compass.
- When you reach the green mist, ring the bell behind you three times
- Steer towards the ghost ship
Congratulations! Your journey is over, till the next level at least. We hope you’ve found this Escape Simulator 2: The Cursed Treasure Pirate Ship useful.
