How to complete A Growing Mystery in Disney Dreamlight Valley
‘A Growing Mystery’ is the second quest in Disney Dreamlight Valley that you need to complete to unlock Cogsworth and Lumiere. Recently added to the game, this quest line sees you return to the Beauty & the Beast realm — and let’s face it, we love any excuse to visit the realms of this excellent Disney game.
Before you begin A Growing Mystery, you’ll need to have first completed A Haunting in the Beast’s Castle — we’ve got a guide to help you with that if you need it. To begin the mission, head to the Beauty and the Beast realm if you’re not already there (you can fast-travel from your menu or head to the warp point in the castle). Talk to Cogsworth — you’ll find him in the garden.
1. Find rose seeds
Cogsworth will ask you to find rose seeds. They’re in the Beast’s room — that’s the room where the magic rose is. If you’re struggling to find it, you can make your way to the main room of the castle, then head up the stairs in the secret area.
Once you’ve got the seeds, return to Cogsworth.
2. Plant the rose seeds
Plant the rose seeds in the four corners of the centre of the garden. Once you’ve done, talk to Cogsworth.Â
3. Make rose fertiliser
You now need to make rose fertiliser. You’ll need 8x castle softwood, 3x rich soil and 3x castle stone. It’s likely that you’ll have everything but if not, it can be found by exploring the garden. You’ll find some materials by clearing up rocks and vines, and there are also some dropped bags containing items to be found around the area, too.
Once you’ve got all the ingredients, it’s time to put them together. There’s a workbench on the edge of the garden you can use to make it.
Use the fertiliser in your inventory to add it to your watering can. Use the watering can on the four rose beds, then pick up 6x roses that drop.
Talk to Cogsworth.
4. Plant roses in flowerpots
Head into the hallway and make your way to where the piano is. Plant three of the roses in the flowerpots here. When you’re done, pick up the two items that appear on the floor.
Talk to Cogsworth – he should just be behind you now.
That’s all there is to A Growing Mystery in Disney Dreamlight Valley, and you’re a step closer to unlocking Lumiere and Cogsworth. Once this mission has been completed, you can move onto Belle, Book and Candle.
