Farming is a major part of Anno 117: Pax Romana. In order to meet some residents’ needs you’ll have to grow wheat, dye plants and more. But sometimes you’re unable to grow these plants due to ‘missing fertility’. Here’s how you go about fixing missing fertility in Anno 117: Pax Romana.

The ‘missing fertility’ message may crop up when you try to build a cultivation area; for example, if you’re trying to create trousers and try to build a dye plant farm. There’s no point trying different areas on your island; you’ll get the same message. So how do you fix Anno 117’s missing fertility message?

The only way you’re going to be able to grow the plant in question is to find another island where that plant has a high fertility rating. How do you do this? First you’ll have to send a ship out to look for some other islands, clearing the fog of war until you find at least one other island.

Next, move your cursor close to the island and have a look at the mini map in the lower left-hand corner of the screen. The top right area of this map, on the border, shows several plants and resources. If the resource you want, dye plants for example, is amongst those, settle on the island and grow the plants there.

And if not? Look around for other islands until you find one where the crop icon is on the mini-map’s border. Alternatively, you can go to the trade route map and move your cursor over the islands, to reveal ones where the resource is available. That’s how to fix missing fertility in Anno 117: Pax Romana.
