Anno 117: Pax Romana has you creating your own Roman village, working your way to a town, then a city and beyond. You get to decide exactly where buildings go, but you might have trouble making them fit. That’s where our guide comes in; we’ll show you how to rotate buildings in Anno 117.

To rotate a building, you either need to be constructing the building or relocating it once you’ve built it. Anno 117 will let you move buildings that have already been constructed, and you can also do the same with roads though it’s a little bit trickier.

Here’s how you rotate buildings in Anno 117: Pax Romana:

  • Make sure the building is selected, whether you’re about to build it or you’ve chosen to move an existing building.
  • On PC keyboard, press . to rotate the building clockwise or , to rotate it anti-clockwise.
  • On PlayStation 5, press square to rotate the building clockwise (on Xbox this should be X)
  • Place the building to set its position.

On console you can only rotate the building in one direction, so if you go past the position you want, just try again. By default, it’ll rotate through diagonal positions as well. When you’re moving a building on PS5, the square button may be labelled Activate/Deactivate Diagonals, but it still rotates the building with each tap.

With a few exceptions, it’s not typically not a huge deal which direction buildings face. Instead, it’s more about making your city as aesthetically pleasing as possible. Even if you’ve not got the materials you need and so have the ‘ghost’ of a building, you can still rotate it.

There’s no penalty or charge for rotating or moving buildings you’ve already built. The only catch is that you can’t place a building if the construction area is under attack. And that’s how to rotate buildings in Anno 117: Pax Romana.
