Earth Must Die walkthrough: Full guide and puzzle solutions

If you’re just about to jump into Earth Must Die, let us tell you: you’re in for a treat. This alien adventure game, akin to a classic point and click, is as hilarious as it is enjoyable. With fantastic characters, even better voice acting and a story about overlords and galaxian invasions, there’s so much to love. Some of its puzzles can sometimes be a bit tricky, though, and that’s where we come in: this Earth Must Die walkthrough will lead you through all the tough bits. And the not so tough bits. All of the game, basically.

Earth Must Die isn’t quite a traditional point and click game. It’s best played with a controller, with you using the left stick to move your character around rather than clicking a location. You will move a cursor to interact with objects, however, so it sits somewhere in the middle of point and click and modern adventure. Its controls take a little while to get used to, but they are easy to learn and intuitive once you’ve got the knack.

So: if you want help playing through Earth Must Die, read on. You can use the quick links below to jump to a specific chapter. We’ve also added subheadings that should help signpost key points in the game, so either follow through step-by-step, or jump to the section you need. Have fun!

Earth Must Die walkthrough: How to play, and how to use this guide

We’ve mapped out most of what you need to do in Earth Must Die over the course of this walkthrough. What we haven’t done is give you dialogue options every time. For the most part, you can choose your own dialogue, deciding how you want your version of Vvalak to act. Where dialogue is important, we’ve highlighted the choice you need to make.

To play the game, you’ll use your left stick to move around the environment. Press RB and use the left stick to see what you can interact with. Release RB when you’re over an object, then use the left stick to choose how to interact. Up is look, down is talk, right is command and left is cancel. All four options are not always available – you can’t always command someone, for example.

When you do command someone, you’ll be presented with a black line linking your cursor to the minion you’re commanding. Move your cursor towards another object or being, then press A for your subject to interact with them.
