Released in December 2021 on PC, ICARUS is an open world survival game that offers PvE action for up to eight players. Sitting at a rating of Mostly Positive after more than 26,000 reviews on Steam, it’s safe to say that it’s gone down rather well. Due to its success, a console edition was supposed to release on PS5 and Xbox Series X/S at the end of the month, on 26th February. Developer RocketWerkz has now delayed the title by a number of weeks, however. Though it’s for a good reason.

“After careful consideration, we’ve decided to move the release date to Thursday 26 March. This additional month will allow us to polish the gameplay and ensure the best possible launch,” RocketWerkz states in a message shared on the studio’s X account. “While the game is in a strong and stable state, we’ve identified a few areas that need further refinement. Rather than launch with known issues, we believe taking these extra weeks is the right decision for the game and players.”

The game being delayed by a month might be disappointing for those looking forward to jumping into ICARUS: Console Edition, then, but in the long run it will undoubtedly be for the better. And for those who want more information about the delay and what to expect from ICARUS when it launches on consoles, there’s going to be a developer AMA on Reddit.com/r/survivalgaming at 10pm GMT / 2pm PT on 17th February.
