Modders are ruining Resident Evil Requiem’s big chase and it’s amazing

It’s no surprise that PC modders have already started in on Resident Evil Requiem, swapping monsters out for Shrek, turning Grace into a vampire and, more practically, removing the edge-of-screen effects that depict low health.
There are 700+ mods on NexusMods alone and with Resident Evil Requiem selling over five million copies, we’d expect that number to double over the next couple of months. But, entertaining silly as some of these mods are, what’s really got us grinning is the way that modders are undermining Resident Evil’s big chase (be warned, we’re going to get into spoiler territory).
Whereas Grace spends most of her time on foot, Leon gets to participate in one of the game’s most dramatic sequences, a high-octane motorbike chase where he pursues one of the game’s two villains. It’s almost comically over-the-top as is, with the villain just whipping out a rocket launcher but modders have dialled its insanity up to 11.
How? It started off with a modder swapping the duo’s motobikes for pedal cycles, a seriously silly spectacle you can watch above. But that was just the beginning, and other modders saw this as a challenge. Soon, we’d got Grand Theft Auto’s CJ taking on Big Smoke atop a pair of bikes.
Then, modders started looking at what else they could trade Leon’s bike for. Wheelchair? Check? Invisible bike? Check. Penny farthing? Not so far, but it can only be a matter of time. There’s even a mod to put Leon in one of Halo’s Covenant Ghost vehicles.
Resident Evil Requiem isn’t exactly lacking in humour, but we love how these modders have sucked all the drama out of thie chase. These shenanigans have also caught the attention of the game’s director, Koshi Nakanishi, who signalled his approval.
You can find all these Resident Evil Requiem mods at NexusMods. You’ll need a free NexusMods account plus a PC copy of the game to use them.
