Eerie gothic stealth game The Stone of Madness is free on the Epic Games Store

Want to sneak your way around a Spanish monastery, dodging spooks and wrangling your characters’ own phobias? Then you’ll be happy to hear that The Stone of Madness is now free on the Epic Games Store.

We covered this turn-based stealth game when it launched at the beginning of last year. We commented that “With a compelling cast of characters, engaging stealth gameplay, and a gloomy, twisting tale that’ll probably end in bloodshed, what’s not to like?”

We also bludgeoned more nuns than we should have but now it’s free on the EGS, you can right that wrong. You’ll still have to deal with ghosts, however, that are a lot harder to immobilize, but you’ve got plenty of freedom to tackle each level as you see fit.

While its isometric perspective may throw Thief fans for a six, it’s well worth experiencing, especially if you’ve a taste for the eerie. At the grand price of zero pence, it’s a real steal for stealth fans and its twisty, turny story, coupled with some genuinely interesting characters, is sure to keep you engaged.
