Breathedge 2 launches into early access this month, and the first game is being given away for free to celebrate
We rather enjoyed the original Breathedge when it launched on PC back in 2021. A survival game set in space which doesn’t take itself at all seriously, we stated “if you’re open to a bit of ridiculous comedy, like the idea of taking the reins and crafting your way to rescue, then it’s well worth a go.” Since then it’s made its way to a wealth of other formats, and later this month a sequel is set to arrive.
Launching into Steam Early Access on 31st August, Breathedge 2 is set to continue the story of the Man as he further attempts to put an end to the Breathedge Corporation. Along the way he’ll encounter yet more problems of an intergalactic nature, and while he has a number of companions to help him, there’s still a chance he could simply die or go insane before he achieves his goal.
Like the first game, Breathedge 2 will present multiple star systems and zones for you to guide the Man through, and will offer a mix of resource gathering, crafting, problem solving and combat, along with survival elements and a healthy dose of humour. You’ll get to manage and upgrade your own spaceship, too, and oversee a crew who each have their own roles, needs and personal goals.
At its Early Access launch, the first story chapter of Breathedge 2will be available, with further chapters arriving as free major updates on the way to 1.0. Once 1.0 has been reached, the game will then make its way to consoles, so that’s something to look forward to if you’re not a PC gamer. Check out the Early Access launch trailer for the game below.
Like what you see but haven’t played the original Breathedge? There’s good news, as you can claim it or free this weekend on Steam. From 6pm BST / 10am PT today, that’s the 7th August, simply head on over to Steam and go to the store page for Breathedge. You’ll then be able to add the game to your account for free, allowing you to play it whenever you like. Just be quick, as the offer ends on 9th August at 6pm BST / 11am PT.
