Silly space survival sim Breathedge is free on the Epic Games Store
Do you like your survival sims to have a sense of humour? Like, for example, plugging a gas leak with a chicken’s head only to find the gas is escaping through the fowl’s rear end? Then you need to snap up Breathedge, which is absolutely free on the Epic Games Store.
This survival game takes place after your spaceship crashes, not on some deserted planet, but in the cold depths of space. You were on the way to your grandfather’s funeral and with oxygen in short supply, you’ll have to work hard to make sure it’s not your funeral too.
We went hands on with Breathedge shortly after its 2021 release, calling it “Delightfully enjoyable.” That still stands and if you missed out this month’s earlier giveaway, when Breathedge was free on Steam, here’s your chance to catch up.
You can claim Breathedge here and if you’re sufficently hooked by Breathedge, the sequel, Breathedge 2, enters Steam Early Access on August 31st. Breathedge is free from now until 4:00PM GMT this Thursday September 3rd.
However, it’s not the only freebie on the Epic Games Store. You can also claim Rival Stars Horse Racing: Desktop Edition. There’s absolutely a market for equestrian games and if you’re a horse-fancier (it’s rated Very Positive on Steam) it could be worth picking up. We’re assuming it skips over the whole glue factory aspect of horse racing.
As for next week’s game? That’s Alone With You, which sees you attempting to escape a crumbling colony. We said it was “Worth investing in due to the fantastic story it tells and the game’s palpable world”, so if you’ve a taste for atmospheric adventures, make sure you grab this freebie.
