Carry the Count is R.E.P.O. meets What We Do in the Shadows and I can’t wait to play it

Love wacky co-op games? You’re spoilt for choice right now and it seems like there’s a new one announced every week. But newly-announced Carry the Count, which sees you hauling a coffin across a spooky medieval landscape, is the first in ages to really grab my attention.

Why? Because the aforementioned coffin contains your vampire master, and the world can’t have enough comedy bloodsuckers. Daily, I psychically will FX to release What We Do in the Shadows on Blu-ray, and Carry the Count looks to be every bit as absurd as that show.

You can play solo, but Carry the Count promises to be at its best when you’ve got four players, each a minion of the Count, fumbling their vampiric master’s vessel across one of nineteen regions. It’s not just a matter of carrying it on your shoulders, either. There are chasms to grapple across, enemies to fight, and a host of other obstacles in your way, as you carry the Count to meet his true love.

According to developer Little Bird Studios, there’ll be puzzles to solve too. The coffin is equipped with a familiar-firing cannon, so you can launch one or more players ahead, to prepare the way for the Count. Little Bird hasn’t revealed whether you can ‘accidentally’ kill your master, but you may need to repair the coffin as you traverse the spooky landscapes.

Unfortunately, as appealing as the game sounds, it doesn’t currently have a release date, other than ‘coming soon’. You can, however, wishlist Carry the Count on Steam.
