Star Wars: Galactic Racer’s latest trailer showcases the saga’s infamous speeder bikes
Star Wars: Galactic Racer’s latest Under the Hood with Hibi trailer is here, and this time it’s diving into the high-speed nightmare that is Return of the Jedi’s speeder bikes. And what do you know, it turns out they’re far less hazardous when you’re not flying them through dense forest.
“Speeder bikes are like concussion missiles with handlebars,” Space Liverpudlian Hibi points out. Fortunately, not only are the courses largely tree-free, speeder bike riders have a handy ‘Kinetic Burst’ ability. When activated, this slows the bike right down.
Why would you want that when you’re fighting to be first past the finish line? Because, while it’s ridiculously fast, Star Wars: Galactic Racer’s speeder bikes are not good at taking corners. Activate Kinetic Burst and you’re far less likely to slam into a barrier, Imperial Scout Trooper style.
Another bonus, if you’re a fan of not dying horribly, is that Galactic Racer’s speeder bikes seem significantly hardier than Return of the Jedi’s vehicles. You can take a couple of hits before exploding, but still Hibi makes it clear that they’re the most fragile of all the game’s vehicles. Still, we’re suckers for a high-speed, life-threatening race (I blame Deathchase on the ZX Spectrum).
