Are you sinking your teeth into The Blood of Dawnwalker? You’re not the only one. This action RPG, which casts you as a half-vampire who’s human by day and bloodsucker by night, has sold a massive one million copies.

That’s good news for developer Rebel Wolves. While several members of the studio worked on The Witcher series and Cyberpunk 2077, The Blood of Dawnwalker is their debut title, so they were likely a little nervous about how it would be received. Just three days after its release, it hit this massive milestone.

We’re still making our way through Dawnwalker’s world, but we’ve been seriously impressed so far. In our The Blood of Dawnwalker review we called it “…undoubtedly one of the highlights of the year.” We’re not ready to score it yet, but it’s seriously got its claws into us.

We’re particularly taken by its time mechanic which puts you up against a 30-day clock. Those are in-game days and while time doesn’t tick away if you stand in the town square picking your nose or just go for a wander, quests eat up chunks of time, as do certain other actions.

It forces you to consider what’s really important, both from a gameplay and story perspective. Yes, there are PC mods out there which extend the clock but they risk diluting what makes Dawnwalker so great. We’d sooner the modders focus their energy on replacing the final boss with Thomas the Tank Engine.

Want to join the million-strong half-vampire army? You can pick up The Blood of Dawnwalker on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S and PC.
