RPG building sim Let’s Build a Dungeon gets a 2027 release date

Announced all the way back in 2024, Let’s Build a Dungeon is developer Springloaded’s follow-up to the popular Let’s Build a Zoo, and it finally has a release date. Offering players the chance to dive into a simulation where they can become an RPG game dev, Let’s Build a Dungeon is set to launch into early access on 11th February 2027.
The trailer, which you can watch below, shows off in-game building mechanics, allowing players to craft complex and beautiful RPG worlds. It also has a faux Steam-style game store, where you can track the popularity and sales of your game once it’s launched. Is it going to be a runaway success or an absolute flop? Oh no, it looks like it’s competing against ‘Grand Theft Bicycle VI’ and ‘Olden Ring’!
Like Let’s Build a Zoo, we imagine Let’s Build a Dungeon is going to be very tongue-in-cheek, with plenty of humour thrown in along the way. But more than being a silly little sim game, Springloaded wants their latest game to be a realistic representation of what building and releasing a game is actually like.
“By allowing players to mimic the real-life development cycle of Let’s Build a Dungeon within the game, we’re making good on our commitment to show players what game development is really like,” says James Barnard, Let’s Build a Dungeon’s game director. “In the exact same way that our players need to adapt to the feedback of their virtual players to succeed in Campaign Mode, we know that we need to do the same and take as much valuable feedback as we can from our community during Early Access. Incorporating their feedback will make for the best possible 1.0 release – so it’s become this sort of meta, symbiotic relationship.”
Like the sound of it? You can jump into Let’s Build a Dungeon from 11th February 2027, when it’ll release into early access on Steam and Xbox Game Preview for PC. There’s also a demo available right now on Steam, so you don’t have to wait to get a taste of game dev heaven/hell (delete as appropriate).
