Out today on Switch and PC, Monowave is a platformer all about channelling your emotions

From Studio BBB, there’s a new game available today that’s all about channelling your emotions. Being happy, sad, angry or energetic is the key to unlocking new skills in order to get you through Monowave, a charming and puzzling platformer.
As you move around Monowave’s levels, you’ll come across points that allow you to switch emotions. Signified by colour and a change in the way you move, harnessing different emotions is the only way you can reach the end of a level. Anger allows you to bounce off the walls, ideal for wall-jumping and reaching new platforms. Happiness makes you extra springy, giving you the ability to double jump. You’ll be introduced to all of the game’s emotions as you start playing, but it’ll be up to you to figure out how to harness them as you go on.
It’s not the easiest platforming game, with puzzles being at the heart of Monowave, but thanks to its unique and colourful art style, it’s a joy to play. Presented like a living doodle, it’s bold and unusual, and even when your protagonist is making use of a sad emotion, you’ll likely still have a smile on your face.
While Monowave is available today on Nintendo Switch and PC, it has been announced for PS5 and Xbox Series X/S, too. There’s no release date for home consoles yet, however, but we expect it to be available soon. Costing just $9.99 or your local equivalent and offering in the region of eight hours’ gameplay, it’s well worth taking a look at.
