If you like your platforming games to be festive and family-friendly, we’ve got one to add to your Christmas list. The Grinch 2: Saving Christmas is coming to PC and consoles on 18th September, and thanks to a brand new gameplay trailer, we’ve got our first glimpse at what to expect. And, well, it comes as no surprise that what we can expect is colourful, Christmassy fun.

Sequel to The Grinch: Christmas Adventures, The Grinch 2: Saving Christmas features an all-new story and new levels to work through. As before, this is a platformer aimed at children, so expect simple controls, a casual difficulty level and plenty of accessibility. It’s also playable solo or in co-op, so if you want to play with your kid – or if siblings want to play together – it’s a great choice.

With 23 levels that will take you across four different worlds, you’ll get to explore familiar environments such as Whoville, Mt. Crumpit, Who Wood and the Grinch’s Cave. Also, as you make your way through the game, you’ll gather up collectible ornaments that will be used to decorate Whoville’s ‘ultimate Christmas tree’.

Playing as the Grinch (or Max, if you’re playing in co-op), you can make use of a variety of neat gadgets, such as a jetpack, a snowball maker and rocket skates, all of which can be used to overcome various obstacles and defeat enemies.

You can watch the trailer below. And there’s not long until you can jump into the full game: Christmas is coming early, with The Grinch 2: Saving Christmas launching on 18th September. You might want to wait until a little closer to the festive season, but hey, with supermarkets already stocking advent calendars and Christmas gifts, why not? It’ll be available on PS4, PS5, Xbox Series X/S, Switch and PC.
