If there’s one thing you can be sure of in the world of video games, it’s that there will be delays. There’s quite a lot of them recently, too; in the last few days both Rayman Legends Retold and the Switch 2 version of 007 First Light have suffered them, for example. And now there’s another to add to the list: the Switch 2 version of Aliens: Fireteam Elite 2.

If you’re an Aliens fan, you’ll likely be aware that Aliens: Fireteam Elite 2 launched on PS5, Xbox Series X/S and PC last month. We’ve been enjoying our time with the PS5 version, stating “fighting for your life while hordes of Xenomorphs attack remains as exhilarating as ever,” in our review. It does have some issues, though, mainly of the technical variety. And it’s perhaps for that reason that the Switch 2 version has been delayed.

Aliens: Fireteam Elite 2 was originally set to release on Switch 2 this autumn, a little while after its PS5, Xbox Series X/S and PC counterparts, but now it will arrive early next year. The delay has been made to give developer Cold Iron Studios extra time to deliver the best version possible for the hardware. The delay is disappointing, then, but it should be worth it in the end.

In any case, Cold Iron Studios is apparently focused on tuning Aliens: Fireteam Elite 2 to improve the experience for every player. So no matter which format you pick the game up on, you can look forward to the co-op shooter becoming even more enjoyable moving ahead. And if you’re an Aliens fan, there’s already lots of frenzied entertainment to be had.
