’80s inspired Zeldalike Vice: Magic City Mayhem is out one day before Grand Theft Auto 6

We took a look at Vice: Magic City Mayhem back in 2025 and now this Zelda-inspired retro adventure has a confirmed release date. The twist? It’s dropping just one day before Grand Theft Auto 6, a seriously risky move on the part of developer Jurassic Sunset Games.

It’s no coincidence, either. “One day before GTA6. Suck it, Rockstar Games,” says the trailer. As marketing moves go, it’s certainly bold, particularly since several developers have chosen to move their games away from GTA 6’s release window.

Will it pay off? We’re not entirely convinced. Vice: Magic City Mayhem isn’t aimed at GTA 6’s core audience, but you can bet that when November rolls around, every other person will be talking about Rockstar’s long awaited sequel. Dropping a game into that noise seems unwise.

Regardless, if you’ve ever wondered what it’d be like if The Legend of Zelda took place in 1980s Miami, Vice: Magic City Mayhem is worth checking out. It boasts the top-down trappings of the Zelda series, coupled with the aesthetic of Miami Vice and Grand Theft Auto: Vice City, rendered as an NES-era game.

Vice: Magic City Mayhem releases on the PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S and Nintendo Switch on the aforementioned November 18th. In the meantime, its Steam demo has been updated, if you want an advanced taste of what promises to be a silly, silly game.
