Currently in development, BrainWash: Zombie Cleanup is PowerWash Simulator meets World War Z

I’m a huge fan of Max Brooks’ World War Z, so I’m surprised and delighted that there’s a game in the works that channels the latter part of the book. BrainWash: Zombie Cleanup, from solo developer Haz Games, puts you in charge of, as the title suggests, cleaning up after the undead.
No, you’ve not forgotten that part of the movie. World War Z is a decent enough movie, and it’s spawned a seriously fun game, but it’s got very little in common with Max Brooks’s original book. The latter sees humanity (or what remains of it) pushing back the undead, and includes the accounts of the teams sent in to clean out the last few walking corpses.
Granted, in the book they do relatively little power washing, but someone has to clean up all the blood and guts and that’s where you come in. Set in the 1950s, BrainWash: Zombie Cleanup has you roaming through several locations, hospitals and homes included, disposing of the mess.
The twist is that, as in World War Z, the ‘mess’ includes the few zombie stragglers that haven’t been eliminated by humanity’s efforts. So as well as toting a mop and power washer, you’ll be wielding a gun and fending off walkers, as illustrated in the below trailer.
Yes, those zombies are rather naked, but Haz has stated they’ll address that as they develop the game. Right now, it’s in an alpha state, so there’s a lot of work to do on bringing the game to PC.

That also means it’s likely to be a while till zombie fans like myself can get their hands on this intriguing mash-up of genres. In the meantime, you can wishlist BrainWash: Zombie Cleanup on Steam and follow Haz Games on Twitter/X.
