Godzilla: Destroy All Monsters Melee Remastered gets a kaijutastic Steam demo

Godzilla: Destroy All Monsters Melee Remastered may be a couple of weeks away from release but you don’t have to wait to step into the shoes of the towering kaiju. Developer Pipeworks Studios has released a playable Steam demo and if you’re a fan of Godzilla or giant monsters in general, it’ll stomp all over your weekend.
The demo lets you play as one of three monsters; Godzilla, Gigan and three-headed mega-dragon King Ghidorah. Aside from battling computer-controlled monsters, you can also annihilate the city in Destruction mode and there’s local multiplayer and online play too. The latter’s a little surprising for a demo, but I had no problems finding a remote opponent.
I did get my bottom kicked a couple of times, but that’s only because it’s been a good decade since I played this game’s sequel, Godzilla: Save the Earth. Honest. I’m happy to report that not only does it look far prettier than that title, thanks to its current-gen upgrade, it’s decidedly less clunky too.
The demo nails the feeling of the Godzilla franchise’s man-in-a-suit battles and while fighters are slower than, say, Street Fighter 6, skill and timing absolutely pay off. At least they do if you’re fighting one-on-one. You can expect things to get a more chaotic in four-player mode and I can see Godzilla: Destroy All Monsters Melee Remastered being a blast at parties.
Even though Mechagodzilla is absent (he’ll be in the full game) I can see myself putting hour after hour into the demo, which isn’t time-limited in any way. Sadly, there’s no console demo right now but if you’re on the fence about buying it, Godzilla: Destroy All Monsters Melee Remastered’s Steam demo could be all the motivation you need.
With a roster of 12 playable kaiju, Godzilla: Destroy All Monsters Melee Remastered launches on PC, PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S and Nintendo Switch 2 this November 3rd AKA Godzilla Day.
