With Metro 2038 launching early next year, there’s never been a better time to play Metro 2033 and Metro Last Light if you haven’t already done so. Well, that’s actually a bit of a lie, as 4A Games has announced that the Redux version of both of those games, are getting free upgrades later this month.

First the PC versions of Metro 2033 Redux and Metro Last Light Redux will be updated on 22nd October, with enhancements including upgraded textures, lighting, shadows, animations and environmental detail.

Then, on 29th October, brand new PS5 and Xbox Series X/S versions of the games will be available, with free upgrades available for those who already own them on PS4 and Xbox One. As well as 4K at 60fps, it will support upscaled 4K at 120fps on console. On PC you’ll be able to play at 4K with an uncapped framerate.

The news comes as the Metro franchise celebrates 50 million sales worldwide, and with the upgrades going live this month, you’ve got plenty of time to play the games in anticipation of Metro 2039 next year. It’s a funny one, though, with the Redux version of Metro 2033 and Metro Last Light already being upgraded and enhanced. But alas, we’re not going to complain about two great games being made even more prettier and enjoyable to play.
