Nacon announces its Revolution 5 Unlimited joypad, the first PS5 controller with a screen

Nacon has revealed an all-new PlayStation 5 controller, the latest model in their Revolution 5 series, the Revolution 5 Unlimited. The twist is that, unlike the regular Revolution 5 Pro, this wireless joypad features a screen and it’s the first PlayStation 5 controller to do so.
The screen in question is essentially monochrome, so don’t count on being able to run Doom on it. But you will be able to tweak the controller’s features without reaching for an app or a manual. On top of that, the Nacon Revolution 5 Unlimited boasts a host of other features that pitch it against the DualSense Edge Wireless Controller.
There are TMR joysticks (which should eliminate stick drift), Hall-effect triggers, mechanical switches and remappable buttons at the back and on the top edge of the joypad. The buttons are reprogrammable, though given this is licenced by Sony it’s unlikely you’ll be able to assign long macros.
You can alter the trigger distance with the flick of a switch and for further customisation it includes 6 joystick heads – 2 convex, 2 concave and 2 raised concave. You get a storage case plus charging dock and while it’s clearly aimed at PS5 players, it’s also compatible with PCs and Android devices.
Essentially, it’s the PS5 version of the Nacon Revolution X Unlimited. We were big fans of that joypad, remarking that it was “..a very pleasant controller to use: it’s premium and clearly built to last.” However, we also pointed out that it was likely overkill for your average gamer, given its asking price. Priced at £179.99 / €199.99 / $229.99, the Revolution 5 Unlimited looks to be aimed at the same pro market.
You can pre-order the Revolution 5 Unlimited from Nacon and orders are set to ship from October 21st.
