Everything Announced at Nintendo’s E3 2019 Direct

The briefings of E3 may be over for another year, but they ended with a bang.

As usual, Nintendo was last out of the gate with its pre-recorded E3 Direct. It wasted no time in pulling out a boatload of new game trailers to show us, with some pretty exciting announcements mixed in.

If you happened to miss the live showing of the Direct, worry not: we’ve got a round-up of all the announcements right here, complete with trailers.

  • Nintendo Direct E3 2019 started with some Super Smash Bros. Ultimate news: Dragon Quest characters are joining the game this summer.
  • We finally have a release date for Dragon Quest XI Echoes of an Elusive Age Definitive Edition S: it’s launching 27th September.

  • We got another great trailer for Luigi’s Mansion 3 up now. Suck up ghosts with the new Poltergust G-00, and take control of Gooigi (!) to overcome dangerous obstacles. No firm release date, but it’s coming this year.

  • In partnership with Netflix, there’s a Dark Crystal game coming to Switch. Dark Crystal Age of Resistance Tactics, a tactical RPG, is coming this year.

  • The Legend of Zelda: Link’s Awakening remake is coming on 20th September! Along with the re-imagining of the game we know and love, it’ll also have a dungeon creator.

  • Trials of Mana getting a global release on Switch in early 2020. If you can’t wait that long, Collection of Mana is available on eShop right now.

  • The Witcher 3: Complete Edition is coming to Switch this year.

  • Fire Emblem: The Three Houses arrives on July 26th.

  • More Resi is landing on Switch: Resident Evil 5 and 6 are the next games to be ported.

  • We got a surprise trailer for… No More Heroes 3! It’s coming in 2020.

  • Contra Rogue Corps, a brand new game in the Contra franchise, was announced. It’s coming on 26th September.

  • Daemon X Machina got a release date: it’s coming 13th September.

  • We got an awesome-looking trailer for Panzer Dragoon, which is coming to Switch this winter.

  • There was a new trailer for Pokémon Sword and Shield, which is launching 15th November.
  • Astral Chain is releasing on 30th August. (Boy, August/September is going to be a good time to be a Switch owner.)

  • Strategy game from Romero Games, Empire of Sin, was announced. It’s coming in spring 2020. Fans of The Godfather will probably like it.

  • Marvel Ultimate Alliance 3 launches on Switch on 19th July. There’ll be an expansion pass later in the year featuring X-Men, Marvel Knights and Fantastic Four.

  • The funky-looking Cadence of Hyrule launches tomorrow, 13th June.

  • Mario and Sonic at the Olympic Games looks like a lot of fun. It’s coming in November.

  • Here’s a big one: Animal Crossing New Horizons launches 20th March 2020.

  • The good old sizzle reel: Hollow Knight Silksong, The Elder Scrolls Blades, My Name is Pedro, DOOM Eternal, The Sinking City, Wolfenstein Youngblood, Ded by Daylight, Alien Isolation, Catan, New Super Lucky’s Tale, Dauntless and more all coming to Switch.

  • Another Smash Bros. announcement: Banjo-Kazooie is joining the fight.

  • And what a way to end: with a gorgeous looking teaser, we now know The Legend of Zelda Breath of the Wild sequel is now in development.
