Another year, another NASCAR Heat game.
We were pretty impressed by last year’s NASCAR Heat 4, and while this year’s successor appears to be very much the same, there are some notable improvements.
Those who have played through the career modes of previous NASCAR Heat games, for example, will be happy to find that they can jump straight into the NASCAR Cup series in NASCAR Heat 5 instead of having to make their way up from the bottom. It’s a little thing, but it’s welcome. Going through the Xtreme Dirt Series in particular is getting a bit tiresome now.
Another new feature found in NASCAR Heat 5‘s career is Testing mode. If you’re a hardcore player and you want to make sure your car is set up perfectly for each track you’ll love it. Along with improved statistics provided throughout, NASCAR Heat 5‘s career mode is undoubtedly better than ever, and as you’d expect there are other improvements under the hood as well as updated teams, cars and drivers.
We’ll have a full review of NASCAR Heat 5 sometime early next week, but until then you can see the game in action in the video at the top of this page. If you’re really keen to jump into it this weekend, what we can tell you now is that it seems at least as good as NASCAR Heat 4 – but don’t expect anything ground-breaking or genuinely different. It’s certainly more evolution than revolution.
