Which Class Should You Choose in Diablo 4?

Wondering which character class you should play as in Diablo 4? Hopefully this guide will help.
Choosing a class in Diablo 4, like any game, largely depends on your preferred playstyle. But whether you want to get up close and personal to deal with your foes, strike at them from afar with ranged weapons, or employ powerful magic, there’s a character class for you.
At launch, there are five classes to choose from in Diablo 4: Barbarian, Sorcerer, Druid, Rogue and Necromancer. Each one has its own unique range of skills, perks and traits, meaning your experience with a Barbarian will be very different compared to a Sorcerer. Needless to say, your choice of class in Diablo 4 is very important.Â
So, which character should you choose in Diablo 4? To answer this important question, we’ve supplied a quick summary of each of the five classes available below. Each brief description should give you an overview of the class’s core capabilities, allowing you to decide if they’re the one for you.
Which class should you choose in Diablo 4: The Classes
Barbarian
If you’re the type of player that likes to focus on physical strength and durability, the Barbarian is the class for you. Excelling at close-quarters combat, the Barbarian is unique in that they get to equip three sets of weapons, switching between them to best deal damage to enemies. They can also make use of weapon masteries, and have a flat 10% damage reduction making them more sturdy than other classes. They’re only downfall is that they’re very dependent on gear. While they have a range of skills available to them, if their weapons and armour aren’t up to scratch, they’ll find themselves being cut down rather fast.
Sorcerer
The Sorcerer is for those who wish to dominate the battlefields they enter with magic in Diablo 4. Using a range of elemental spells they can strike from a distance, and hinder their enemies when they get a little too close. They have some close-combat skills, too, but you won’t want to rely on them. The main benefit of playing as a Sorcerer is that they can competently deal with enemies even if they don’t have the best gear thanks to their reliance on skills. Adept management of Mana is important though.
Druid
Combining both powerful physical and magical attacks, the Druid is a versatile class. What makes the Druid truly stand out, though, is the ability to shapeshift into numerous animal forms. If you’ve ever dreamed of becoming a werewolf or a giant bear, tearing your enemies to shreds with razor-sharp claws, then answering the question “which class should you choose in Diablo 4?” has never been easier: it’s this one, for sure.
Rogue
Making a return for the first time since the original Diablo, the Rogue class is yet another versatile character, capable of being effective up close and at range. Unlike the Druid, however, the Rogue can’t shapeshift or employ powerful magic. Instead, their tools of the trade are weapons such as daggers and bows, allowing them to strike fast and land blows that hit enemy weak points. The only danger when getting up close and personal is that they’re a bit squidgy.
Necromancer
Are you lazy? If so, you might like to play as a Necromancer in Diablo 4. This class likes to sit back while letting its minions do all the work. Play as a Necromancer if you want to summon and command an army of the undead. Although you don’t have to let them do all the work. A range of skills also let you play a vital role in your success, such as the brilliant Corpse Explosion. Just don’t let enemies get too close to you, or you might have a brush with death yourself.
Which class should you choose in Diablo 4: Conclusion
So there you have it. Hopefully the overviews above will have helped you choose which class to play as in Diablo 4. Ultimately though, we think you should given them all a try. You never know: a class that might not sound all that appealing to you might actually turn out to be one of your favourites. If nothing else, it helps to keep the game feeling fresh.
