What are Crowd Controlled Enemies in Diablo 4?

Diablo 4 is packed with terminology that’s often not explained very well, like “crowd controlled enemies”. Here’s what it means.
There are lots of different stats, all with their own terminology, and if you’re new to Diablo, it can be difficult to get your head around. One you’ll probably see often in Diablo 4 is “crowd controlled enemies”. You might pick up an item that increases your damage to crowd controlled enemies, for example. But what exactly does that mean?
The term “crowd controlled enemies” in Diablo 4 is simply a blanket term that refers to any number of status effects. Each character has a number of skills that will apply an effect to enemies, inhibiting their ability to cause damage for a short period of time. There are lots of different effects, which we’ve listed below:
- Slow
- Immobilize
- Stun
- Knockback
- Knockdown
- Taunt
- Fear
- Tether
- Daze
- Chill
- Freeze
And so, if you have an ability or a weapon that causes any of those status effects on a character, they are crowd-controlled. It’s worth keeping an eye out, then, for items which do increased damage to crowd-controlled enemies. It could make you even more deadly and powerful than before.
