What Do Shrines Do in Diablo 4?

Find out what shrines do in Diablo 4, and all the different types of them that you’ll find around Sanctuary.
Shrines can be a godsend in Diablo 4 if you find them at the right time. These pylons come in various shapes and sizes, and you typically find them in areas where you’ll be engaging in a lot of combat. Shrines in Diablo 4 grant you a temporary buff, and so it’s always worth activating them each time you see one.
There are at least seven different types of shrines to find in Diablo 4, each one giving you a unique buff. Some last slightly longer than others, but none for more than a couple of minutes. In Diablo 3, you could find certain items with affixes that made shrine effects last longer. We’ve not yet found such an affix in Diablo 4, but there’s a good chance one exists.
In case you’re wondering what each type of shrine in Diablo 4 does, read on.
- Protection Shrine: Makes you invulnerable to all damage
- Blast Wave Shrine: Sends out a powerful blast all around you periodically, which deals heavy damage to enemies
- Lethal Shrine: All of your hits are critical for a short time
- Conduit Shrine: Become a ball of energy and periodically damage nearby enemies. Can also dash between them with the attack button.
- Channelling Shrine: Skills cost no resource and have reduced cooldown
- Artillery Shrine: Every time you attack, you’ll also throw a barrage of weapons at enemies
- Greed Shrine: enemies drop gold when hit
