We absolutely loved Star Wars Outlaws when it launched last year, but one thing that irked us about the game was not being able to free-fire with Kay’s blaster while riding a speeder. That’s not an issue anymore, though, as the latest update for the game, which happens to coincide with the release of the game’s second piece of paid story DLC, has added in the ability. It has a lot more to offer, too.

Update 1.6 for Star Wars Outlaws arrives alongside the new story pack, A Pirate’s Fortune, which means even if you’re not paying to expand Kay’s adventure, there are reasons to return to the best open-world Star Wars game yet. As already mentioned, one of the best new features enabled in the update is the ability to finally be able to free-fire with your blaster while riding a speeder, making combat in the open world a bit more engaging. And another nice new addition is the ability to holster and switch between a two-handed weapon and Kay’s blaster.

Other new features in the update include being able to equip the Trailblazer with a new passive system for additional gameplay effects, making space combat a little more interesting. New space contracts have also been added so you can make the most of this improvement. Whether you choose to engage with these contracts or not, you should at least visit the Trailblazer to pick up a new free cosmetics pack inspired by Star Wars: Skeleton Crew.

You can check out the full patch notes on the Ubisoft website. As well as introducing numerous welcome gameplay features, there’s a wealth of bug fixes across all platforms. With previous updates to the game also making substantial improvements, such as overhauling the game’s stealth system and adding PS5 Pro support, it’s safe to say that Star Wars Outlaws is in the best shape it’s ever been. If you’re a Star Wars fan who for some reason hasn’t yet checked the game out, what are you waiting for?
