We’ve been looking forward to The Eternal Life of Goldman ever since it was revealed back in 2024 and, thanks to THQ’s Digital Showcase, there’s a new and utterly gorgeous trailer. We’re also a little worried that it’s going to break our hearts.

The Eternal Life of Goldman is a challenging platform adventure with Studio Ghibli-level hand-drawn animation. Think Cuphead was impressive? You ain’t seen nothing yet. Playing as aged adventurer Goldman, you take on a range of foes, from the adorable to the downright terrifying.

With mechanical spiders, dangling ghost-like creatures, giant three-headed bosses, The Eternal Life of Goldman promises all the weirdness you could want. Developer Weappy Studio describes it as “..inspired by ancient fables,” but there’s definitely a dab of steampunk in as well.

However, the “What Would I Draw Trailer”, which you can watch above, is framed as the recollections of an unknown person, who’s drawing each frame as she goes. We suspect we’re going to discover that the whole game is in her head and that, jolly platform antics aside, The Eternal Life of Goldman is seriously going to tug on our heartstrings, then rip that beating organ right out of our chests.

Unfortunately, the trailer does not reveal a release date or even a release window, so we doubt we’ll be seeing it this year. It’s pencilled in for a PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, Switch and PC release. In the meantime, you can wishlist The Eternal Life of Goldman on Steam and download a demo to boot.
