Does Diablo 4 Have Treasure Goblins?

Diablo 4 Lilith

Treasure goblins in all their various forms were one of our favourite things about Diablo 3. But does Diablo 4 have treasure goblins? Read on.

Treasure goblins – or treasure demons, as you might call them – are a special type of enemy in the world of Diablo that can appear just about anywhere. They have a lot of HP, but they won’t try to damage you. Rather, they tempt you with their big bag of loot, dropping coins as you chase them around the area. Fail to kill them in time, and they’ll open up a portal, heading back to where they came from. If you do manage to kill them, they’ll drop a large pile of treasure. And we have good news: Diablo 4 does indeed have treasure goblins.

So far, we believe there’s only one type of treasure goblin in Diablo 4: the standard type. Diablo 3 had various types of treasure goblins, all with different appearances and offering up different types of loot. It’s possible there’s more to be found in Diablo 4, but they could be rare or only unlock on higher difficulties.

However, since Diablo 3’s different treasure goblins weren’t added in until several years after the release of the game, we don’t expect they’ll all be available in Diablo 4 from launch. More could be added in via an update further down the line.

But that doesn’t really matter. The basic type of treasure demon can be found in Diablo 4. They seem rather rare, but the loot they hold seems better than the Diablo 3 equivalent. So if you see one, make sure you hunt them down!
