Is Whimsyshire in Diablo 4?

We loved the secret level of Whimsyshire in Diablo 3, but will this rainbow-filled dungeon reappear in Diablo 4?
If you’ve never experienced Whimsyshire in Diablo 3, you’ve really missed out. A secret dungeon that can only be entered via a random portal, it eschews the usual dark visuals of Diablo and replaces them with a bright and colourful world filled with teddy bears, rainbows and unicorns. No, really. We’re not kidding. But then you get there, equipped with all your weapons, and reduce all the cuddly, happy creatures down to a pool of blood. Alas, it is the way of Diablo. If you’re wondering whether you can enter Whimsyshire in Diablo 4, read on.
We’ve got good and bad news. The bad news is that right now, Whimsyshire isn’t in Diablo 4. But that doesn’t mean it won’t be in the future. In an interview with Wowhead, game director Joe Shely and Diablo general manager Rod Fergusson stated that at launch, Diablo 4 will boast a “gritty and grounded world, [and] a cow level, wings, or pets take away from that groundedness”.
While they don’t specifically mention Whimsyshire, we can safely assume it’s included as one of the things that makes Diablo 4 less grounded. And in our so-far 70 hours with the game, we’re yet to find anything that suggests Whimsyshire exists.
The good news is, however, Shely and Fergusson says that their approach to Diablo 4 will “loosen up” in the future. And so that means more fun and outlandish ideas will likely arrive in the game over time. Whimsyshire may or may not be among them; we’ll just have to wait and see.
