How to Hold More Potions in Diablo 4

Diablo 4 review traveling_drysteppes_dd_002 (1)

By default, you can only carry four potions in Diablo 4. Thankfully, you’ll eventually be able to carry more. Here’s what you need to know.

In Diablo 3, we eventually had unlimited potions: you could heal as often as you want, albeit with a short cooldown timer. But in Diablo 4, things have changed. As you begin the game, you only have four potions. You can use them as quickly as you like (as long as you’ve not in a PvP area), but once they’re all gone, that’s it. Enemies drop them generously and they’re often in chests, but still, it would be nice to have more. So: how do you hold more potions in Diablo 4?

To increase the amount of potions you can carry in Diablo 4, you need to raise your renown level in each area. Every time you unlock a new part of the map, complete a side quest or finish a dungeon, you’ll gain renown points for the specific area you’re in. As your renown level increases, you’ll gain various rewards. The first level grants you a skill point, but when you reach the second level, you’ll be able to hold a new potion.

There are five regions to get renown, and so there’s an extra potion to earn for each of them. That means you can eventually carry up to nine potions.

Getting up to renown level two in each area takes a little while, but you’ll achieve it naturally while playing. Engaging in plenty of side quests rather than simply rushing through the story will ensure you gain plenty of renown.

To claim your renown level rewards in Diablo 4, you need to pull up the map then press triangle. Once you’ve claimed the second level reward, an extra potion slot will automatically be added to your inventory. You simply need to pick up an extra potion!
