Echo of Lilith is the “uber boss” of Diablo 4, as it were, but how and when do you face her? Read on to find out.

In Diablo 3, once you’ve finished the campaign, there’s not really much else to work towards, other than climbing the ranks in Greater Rifts. But in Diablo 4, things are a bit different. The story will take you a lot longer to complete, for one. And once you’re done, there’s an ultimate goal to work towards: taking down the final, big boss of the game: Echo of Lilith. But how do you get to face Echo of Lilith in Diablo 4?

Before you can fight Echo of Lilith in Diablo 4, you need to have completed the story, progressed to the final World Tier, and become strong enough to face off against her.  That sounds easy, right? Well, it sounds it. But according to Diablo 4’s associate game director, Joe Piepiora, it’s a fight that’s designed to be “extraordinarily, extraordinarily challenging”.

In an interview with GamesRadar prior to the game’s launch, Piepiora hinted at a “pinnacle boss encounter”. We now know that boss to be Echo of Lilith, and here’s what he had to say about it:

“At level 100, we do have a pinnacle boss encounter we want players to engage with that’s been balanced so that it’s extraordinarily, extraordinarily challenging. Players that reach level 100 are going to have an extremely difficult time on this boss encounter. The expectation is that you take your class, you understand your build, you’ve maximized everything that you possibly can about it, and you really have learned encountered very well. And that’s going to be the way that you can maybe take it down.”

So, it seems that you’ll need to be level 100 before you even think about fighting Echo of Lilith. The in-game information doesn’t make this a requirement. But if you want to stand a chance of taking her down, you’ll need all the experience you can get. Good luck, warriors.
