It seems there was a fair bit of hoo-ha over the weekend regarding The Blood of Dawnwalker and the fact it wouldn’t support 60 FPS on console. A new trailer released by Bandai Namco and developer Rebel Wolves revealed its modes on PS5, PS5 Pro and Xbox Series X/S would let you choose between 30 FPS and 40 FPS. It didn’t go down well.

Today, Rebel Wolves has responded with news that a Performance mode, targeting 60 FPS will be available at launch. “Performance Mode was already in the works, but it was still being tested. We simply weren’t ready to promise it yet,” the company says in a post on X. “We heard your feedback. It was clear how much this mattered to many of you, so we focused on finishing the next round of tests. Those results gave us the confidence we needed to confirm Performance Mode for Day 1.”

The available performance modes in The Blood of Dawnwalker on day one, then, are to be as follows:

PS5/PS5 Pro:

  • Performance (targeting 60 FPS)
  • Balanced (targeting 40 FPS)
  • Quality (targeting 30 FPS)

On PS5 Pro, there will also be overall visual enhancements compared to the standard PS5 output of the game.

Xbox Series X:

  • Performance (targeting 60 FPS)
  • Balanced (targeting 40 FPS)
  • Quality (targeting 30 FPS)

Xbox Series S:

  • One mode targeting 30 FPS

So, if you were hesitant about picking this up on console due to performance, hopefully this news should alleviate your worries a little. There’s a lot to look forward to, it would seem, as everything we’ve seen about this open-world vampire RPG looks very nice indeed.

The Blood of Dawnwalker launches on PS5, Xbox Series X/S and PC on 3rd September.
