Remember the Figment games? The pair of narrative-driven adventure titles, developed by Bedtime Digital Games, stood out with their surrealist art style, clever puzzles and themes around mental health. With a new game on the way, however, Bedtime Digital Games are taking a slightly different direction. Revealed today, Chosen by Odin is a co-op action game steeped in Norse mythology.

The dreamlike realm of Figment has been replaced with Asgard, and the meek, anxious playable character has been replaced with heroes imbued with godlike powers. It’s very different then – but if you’re at all interested in Norse myths and legends, then Chosen by Odin might pique your interest.

You’ll take on the role of a fallen Viking who, hand-picked by Odin, is on a quest across the Nine Realms to hunt down the cults of Ragnarok. You’ll fight your way through enemies, engage in randomised events, pick up rewards and grow more powerful as you go. You’ll earn new godly powers and shape your build by gaining new abilities as you progress through the game, too.

You can play Chosen by Odin by yourself, but Bedtime Digital Games intends you to play it with others, with this being crafted as a co-op experience for up to three players. Form a small team and you’ll share upgrades, with all your teammates becoming more powerful together. By rolling a ‘Fate Dice’, players will take it in turns to pick from a pool of upgrades. Whether you choose to chase synergies for your party or grab the most powerful upgrade for yourself, that’s up to you.

Chosen by Odin is, so far, confirmed for PC and Xbox, but with some time to go before launch, we expect a full announcement of platforms to come later. It’s scheduled for a 2027 release and, if you want to find out more, head to the official Steam page. You can also sign up to be amongst the first to playtest the game.
