Broken Sword 6 will happen, but first something new

Charles Cecil, co-founder of Revolution Games – the company behind the mastery of Broken Sword– has stated in an interview with Digital Spy that a sixth Broken Sword is likely… but not for another four or five years.

Cecil says he’s got some great ideas for Broken Sword 6 and a story that he’s really excited about – but he first wants to concentrate on creating something completely new. He mentioned that talks have been had about Beneath a Steel Sky 2, but a brand new game concept seems to be the forefront of Revolution’s focus at the moment.

He expressed his love for Kickstarter and crowd-funded projects – which is how the company funded the long-awaited Broken Sword 5: The Serpent’s Curse – and said future projects will definitely be funded in the same way.

As for a timeline for a the new project, Cecil’s hoping to have something designed by March, ready for production in the summer, to have something written within about a year.

Whatever it is, we’ll be taking a keen interest in it. George Stobbart has a firm place in our hearts, so anything else that Revolution want to throw at us, we’ll gladly take a good look.
