Club Nintendo to close its doors

Nintendo have this morning announced that Club Nintendo is being discontinued. From 1 April, new products will no longer come packaged with Club Nintendo registration cards inside. The service will officially end on 30 September, when members will no longer be able to sign in to redeem stars. Any stars not used by this date will be lost.

Nintendo have announced that a new service will be launching to replace Club Nintendo, but haven’t given much in the way of detail. The statement on their website gives no other details except that members registering for the new service will receive a copy of Flipnote Studio 3D, an application that lets users create simple animations, on their 3DS for free.
