News – Sony Online Entertainment no longer owned by Sony

Rather unexpectedly, Sony Online Entertainment (SOE) has been acquired by Columbus Nova, an investment management firm based in New York, and will now be rebranded as Daybreak Game Company.

SOE, owner of online favourites such as Everquest, Planetside 2, DC Universe Online, and most recently H1Z1, has assured fans that there will be no negative impact resulting from the acquisition. In fact, Daybreak Games Company have stated that they feel more resources will be available to the existing portfolio of IP and games now that they can become multi-format.

Time will tell if this is a good move for Sony or not, but it can only be seen as a positive for fans of its online games.
